Several SCR juniors have been successful throughout the early portion of their high school seasons in 2016. Here is a quick update on the results of a few notable tournaments:
Goodman Rudolph was recognized by The Commercial Appeal as one of the "Preps Players of the Week" that honors top performers in all sports throughout the week!
SCR members highlighted the field at the Division II-AA West Region Tournament at Quail Ridge on Monday.
MUS took home first place with four of its five top scorers being SCR members. Goodman Rudolph continued his stellar play by medaling with a 68. Trent Scull (69), Jack Crosby (74) and Walker Crosby (74) also helped lead the Owls to the region championship.
Goodman and Trent were named to the All-Region team for their scores.
Briarcrest finished in second place and were also led by a large group of SCR members. Drew Miller and Russell Williamson led the way with 74s. Blake Templeton (77) and Duval Farnsworth (84) also helped give the Saints a berth to the state tournament.
Congratulations to all SCR members for their accomplishments during the regular season, and we wish you continued success as the postseason comes to a finish.
The Girls Division II-AA West Region Tournament was held at Windyke Country Club, and the Heck sisters finished first and second as St. Agnes defeated Hutchison. Rachel was the medalist with a 65 while her older sister Abby was runner-up with a 68.
Congratulations also to Maribeth Peevy, who shot a 78 and qualified for the state tournament as an individual!
In Girls Division II-A action at Windyke, Frances New shot an 82 as her University School of Jackson team took first place over St. Mary's. New's score qualified her for the state tournament!
The Boys Division II-AA West Region Tournament will begin next week, and Trent Scull is taking momentum into the postseason as he shot a 33 at Galloway as his MUS team improved to 41-2 on the season after defeating CBHS and White Station.
The Boys Division II-A West Region Tournament was held at Fair Oaks as SCR members led St. George's to a second-place finish, advancing the Gryphons to the state tournament.
St. George's Winston Margaritas finished with the second-best score of the tournament after shooting a 68. Defending state champion Davis Irving shot a 75.
MUS defeated regional opponents Briarcrest and St. Benedict in a friendly match at Plantation. Jake Meskin shot a 33 to medal in the event.
MUS defeated CBHS by two strokes in a match at Audubon. The Owls were led by Jack Crosby, who was a co-medalist with a 34.
Rachel Heck shot a 34 at Windyke as St. Agnes improved to 31-1.
The Briarcrest Saints squad loaded with SCR members won the Dragon Invitational by 24 strokes. The Saints defeated a tournament field of Bartlett, Houston, Arlington, Munford, Collierville, White Station and others.
In a match between SCR-filled teams, MUS defeated St. George's by two strokes in a match at Galloway. Goodman Rudolph was the medalist after shooting a 32.
Rachel Heck continued playing great golf with a 34 at Quail Ridge.
St. Benedict's girls squad defeated Briarcrest's girls in a match at Quail Ridge. Maribeth Peevy shot a 40 to medal.
In an afternoon packed with preps golf action, four SCR members led Briarcrest to an upset victory over MUS, another team full of SCR members. Briarcrest won the match by five strokes and handed the Owls only its second loss of the season. Goodman Rudolph medaled in the match with a 36 at Windyke Country Club.
At Germantown Country Club, Winston Margaritas led St. George's to a win over Collierville after he medaled with a 36. The Gryphons improved to 28-6 on the season.
St. Benedict's Maribeth Peevy (40) also medaled as her Eagles squad defeated Arlington at Mirimichi.
One week after watching her older sister medal with a 29, Rachel Heck matched her feat by shooting a 29 at Irene Golf & Country Club. Her St. Agnes team improved to 29-1 on the season after a victory over St. Mary's.
Mason Rudolph (35) medaled for MUS as the Owls defeated White Station at Windyke Country Club.
Winston Margaritas led his St. George's team to a win over CBHS and St. Benedict after shooting a 36 at Germantown Country Club.
Briarcrest and its SCR-filled squad traveled to Crossville for the TGA Crossville High School Invitational. After trailing by nine strokes after the first day of competition, the Saints fought back to win the tournament by six strokes. Four of the Saints' five varsity competitors are SCR members - Duval Farnsworth, Drew Miller, Blake Templeton and Russell Williamson Jr.

MUS' Goodman Rudolph continued his strong play with a 31 at Audubon to win low medalist. Goodman, a Mississippi State commitment, led the Owls to a victory over Houston.
At the West Tennessee Girls Invitational at Windyke Country Club, Abby Heck led St. Agnes to a second-place finish. Abby shot a 70 to finish in third place individually.
MUS defeated CBHS to improve to 29-1 on the season after Goodman Rudolph medaled with a 34 at Windyke Country Club.
St. Agnes defeated St. Mary's and FACS after Abby Heck shot a 29 at Galloway.
Drew Miller led Briarcrest to a victory over CBHS after shooting a 34 to win low medalist.
CBHS' Marshall Daniel led the Purple Wave to a victory at the FCA Tournament at Windyke Country Club. His round of 69 tied for low medalist with St. George's Winston Margaritis.
In girls' competition, St. Agnes won by 11 strokes, highlighted by Abby Heck's 66.
Maribeth Peevy again won low medalist with a 39 at Quail Ridge in a competition between St. Benedict, Hutchison and Tipton-Rosemark.
At the Ronnie Wenzler Memorial held at Windyke Country Club, MUS again claimed an early season victory. For the Owls, Jack Crosby won co-medalist with Briarcrest's Drew Miller after a 70. MUS' Goodman Rudolph added a 72 along with teammates Trent Scull's 73 and Jake Meskin's 73.
St. George's David Irving also contended with a 72.
August 15th & 16th
Several juniors competed in the Baylor Preview at Black Creek Club in Chattanooga. Goodman Rudolph from MUS shot a 72-71 in the two-day event to claim low honors among SCR juniors. Fellow MUS teammates Walker Crosby (73-74) and Mason Rudolph (73-80). MUS won the team portion of the tournament.
Briarcrest's Drew Miller had the best individual round with a 69 on the first day.
St. Benedict's Maribeth Peevy shot a 38 at Audubon to win low medalist.
