High school golfers have reached the postseason for their respective teams. The team and individual state tournament will take place throughout the next week.
In Division II-AA West Region boys team competition, Briarcrest (led by Drew Miller, Blake Templeton & Russell Williamson) won in a five-hole playoff over MUS (led by Walker Crosby & Wyatt Berry). CBHS (represented by Marshall Daniels and Drew Oxley).
Individually, Walker Crosby shot a 72 to take home second place. Drew Miller finished in third place with a 74.
In Division II-AA West Region girls competition, Rachel Heck (St. Agnes) shot a 9-under 63 at Windyke to win the individual medalist while also leading her team to the region title.
In Division II-A West Region boys competition, Winston Margaritis (St. George's) won the individual region championship by one stroke over teammate Davis Irving. The duo combined to lead the Gryphons to the West Region championship.
Heading into the state tournament, Heck and Margaritis are attempting to defend their individual titles from 2016 while Davis Irving is trying to repeat his 2015 state championship performance.
