Agronomy Weekly (October 4th)

Good afternoon, and welcome to another edition of Agronomy Weekly.

Greens' height of cut is currently at 0.105’’ and will be raised slightly over the next few weeks to prepare the grass for dormancy.  Increases will be made in increments of 0.005’’ as needed to ensure a smooth and dense putting surface through this transition.  Sand topdressing and rolling will be increased to help maintain green speeds.

Tees & Fairways

Tees' height of cut is currently 0.425’’ and fairways at 0.500’’.  Recent applications of growth regulator and penetrant have provided a firmer surface, tighter turf canopy and less growth between mowings.  Irrigation cycles will remain light, and hand watering will be utilized in excessively dry areas.

Rough height of cut will remain at 2’’ throughout the rest of the year.  All 90 acres will continue to be cut once weekly, and a second cut will be used as needed for immediate rough or the “Membership Cut."

Range Tees

To ensure optimal conditions throughout the upcoming seasons, the South Range tee located near the Golf Shop will be mats only Tuesday through Thursday starting October 11th.  The North end of the range will remain open these days and be over-seeded for the winter.
