Walk-By from the Pro (June 23rd)

Ranchers,

It’s been a rather busy month at SCR.  Last week, we had our annual men's member-guest, The Bull & The Bear 2017.  We got very lucky with the weather, and the temperature was even mildly pleasant.  Congratulations to all event winners, and a big applause for the overall winners: Bobby Winstead and Doug Estes.  Bobby Winstead is a perfect example of how patience and hard work pays off!

Those who played in the member-guest were able to experience the Retreat. What a tremendous addition to the Ranch! If you are interested in parties or weddings, this is a no-brainer.  The Retreat offers a great atmosphere with games, lounging and food.  If you are interested, please contact Toni Williams at (901) 853-5651.

Junior Clinics, Matches and More!

Next week, we will have our first three-day junior clinic.  The clinic is open to ages 6 and up and caters from beginners to more experienced.  The clinic will be from Tuesday, June 27th, through Thursday, June 29.  The price is $125 per player and includes beverages and prizes.  If you are interested, please call the Golf Shop at (901) 853-5650 to sign your junior up.

We are also coming up with some dates for some interclub matches in July.  This is similar to the JAM league that we have done in the past.  Please contact me at (901) 853-6544 with any questions.

The Junior Dylan Cup is just two weeks away.  This is our junior club championship for kids 14 and younger.  Juniors will play 3, 6, and 9 holes.  The date is July 5th and will tee off at 4:30-5pm. Please call the golf shop to sign up.

Aerification

July is aerification month, but don’t fret.  We are doing a less invasive process that will leave minimal alterations in the conditions. Read more about the aerification process in Superintendent Stephen Cox's latest edition of Agronomy Weekly.

Staff Promotion

I want to formally announce that Dave Hendricks will be promoted to Assistant Golf Professional.  Dave has over 30 years experience in the golf business.  Although he is not currently PGA-certified, he will begin his apprenticeship in September.  For those of you that know Dave, he has a welcoming and outgoing personality.  He has proven to be hard-working and reliable.

Golf Shop Additions

Golf season is in full swing, and we may be able to help with improving your golf game.  We have new training aids for tempo and swing speed in the Golf Shop. We also have some apparel for the July 4th holiday.  We have some shoes and shirts from Skechers, Adidas, Peter Millar and FootJoy to show off your USA spirit.

Keep the Birdies Rolling,

Matthew Brock
