Summer is here, and the heat has come with it! The course is in prime condition and our season is ramped up. The Spring brought on loads of rain, making our tournaments thus far very difficult to complete. With that said, we have had some changes to our tournament schedule.
The Oak, our 2-day stroke play tournament, was cancelled due to weather. The reschedule date is now June 29th and 30th. The Oak will now serve as one of two qualifiers we have for the Meyer Cup, our Match Play Club Championship, in July. The Meyer Cup has now been moved to July 12th-14th due to other tournament scheduling conflicts. Please call the golf shop at 901-853-5650 to sign up.
The Sake Bomb was also rescheduled due to weather. We have since moved it to Saturday, July 20th. The Sake Bomb is a couples event with golf and appetizers following play. We are starting a casual Friday Couples day in June. This is an opportunity to play with other couples and have dinner following. The format will vary but will have a small competition for participating couples. The dates are June 21st, July 12th and July 26th. It will be a 5:00 tee off. Call the golf shop to sign up.
The Bash, our Ladies interclub with TPC Southwind, was held on May 8th and 9th. The SCR Ladies made a valiant effort but came up just short. The SCR Ladies had won the previous 3 matchups. The ladies are determined to get the cup back next year.
The Southern Cup, which is an annual invitational with Old Waverly, Chenal, and The Ledges was held at Old Waverly just last week. The SCR men came from behind to win the Southern Cup for the third year in a row. Next year, SCR will go for the course sweep. Congratulations, Gentlemen!
The Bull and the Bear will be held June 12th-15th. The golf course will be closed all day for the entirety of the tournament to non-participants. Non-participants will be allowed to use the north end practice facility.
Junior Camps and Clinics are getting ready for the season. The first Summer Camp with Ty Medling will be June 19-21. The time is from 9 am-11am for ages 6-12 years old. Cost is $150 for the three days. Contact Ty at email@example.com to sign up or if you have any questions.
Just a friendly reminder to help us take care of our beautiful course. Please dispose of cigarettes, cigars, and trash in waste bins. Remember to rake bunkers and fix ball marks when necessary. Let’s all do our part to make the course enjoyable to all!
Keep the Birdies Rolling,
