Walk-By with the Pro

Winter has gone, spring came and left quickly, and now summer is here.  Ninety-degree days are already upon us, and the need for sunscreen is at all-time high.

New Cart Fleet

The new carts arrived mid-April, and they have some great new features. Each cart now has two coolers for you to stay hydrated on those super hot days.  Let us stock your cooler before you tee off. The carts also have two USB ports available for your convenience.  Come out and take a ride in them today!

Tournament Updates

Tournaments have already begun, and I have some great news to report!  Spring Creek Ranch has successfully defended the Southern Cup.  After a tough weekend that involved getting rained out on Sunday, the SCR team of 16, which included handicaps from +3 to 16, was able to retain the Cup.  We tied with Chenal after the three matches, which enabled us to keep the Southern Cup at home.

The ladies of SCR were also successful in defending their interclub title.  The Bash, which is a match between SCR and TPC ladies, was dominated by our ladies.  After winning the Best Ball session at TPC 3-1, the ladies won the single session 5-3 on our home turf.  SCR goes two for two on keeping interclub battles at home.

The Oak Results

This past weekend, we held the 2nd annual Oak Tournament, our Men’s Stroke Play event.  The winner of the event received an exemption into the Tennessee State Amateur, played at Spring Creek Ranch, later in August.  Ben Fisher fired a second-round 70 to take the title away from first-round leader Tim Roop.  Wyatt Berry shot the low round of the tournament (68) to grab second place.  In the flighted division, Doug Haefer edged Cary Califf by one stroke to take the win.

New Ranch Hands

If you have not visited us lately, we have some new faces in the Golf Shop.  Casey Hawkins will brighten your day with her lovely smile and personality.  Her knowledge of merchandise and overall enjoyment can be experienced on a daily basis.

Jared Hodge is new to the golf business and is working towards an Assistant Golf Professional position.  Our team will continue working to provide you with the best experience.

New Merchandise

New merchandise is arriving daily.  From Travis Mathew to FootJoy, we have the clothes to outfit every taste and preference.  We also have a variety of headcovers, golf bags and luggage for all your golfing needs.  Come let us know how we can make you look good while on the course.

SCR Junior Program

I’m excited to inform you that we have a revitalized junior program.  Ty Medling, one of our instructors at the Golf Academy, has taken charge of the junior program and delivered an approach to cover all experience levels and age groups.

Ty has worked with other Memphis clubs to develop a league play for those juniors that are ready for competition, while creating clinics and camps for juniors as young as 4.  If you have a junior that loves golf, we can take care of them.  Please check out the link to the Junior Program by Ty Medling.

Course Maintenance

The course is in unbelievable shape.  The greens and fairways are beginning to fill in and dry out.  Please help me in doing our part to ensure the course stays top notch.  Raking bunkers and fixing ball marks will go a long way to ensure conditions are great for everyone.

Keep the birdies rolling,

Matthew Brock
